Job summary

Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society seeks a Latsumexw Coordinator (Chilliwack) to strengthen Indigenous cultural connections for children, youth and families. The role focuses on relationship-building, registry creation, and community engagement across Canada and into the United States.

The position is regular full-time, with a hybrid work model, requiring knowledge of Indigenous culture, family services, and relevant legislation.

Qualifications

• Passion for building relationships with Indigenous communities and youth.
• Knowledge and appreciation of Indigenous culture and historical impacts.
• Understanding of family systems and child development along with relevant legislation.

Responsibilities

• Build bridges with leadership in 140+ communities in BC and beyond.
• Create an internal registry/database of children and youth in care and their communities.
• Develop a workplan to support social workers in connecting children to their home communities.
• Liaise with Elders and DOOs to assess needs and provide connections.
• Monitor activities and write reports for executives.
