Qualifications

• Institutional qualification required in HR/Business/Communications/Health Administration or equivalent
• Minimum 3–5 years of program coordination, community engagement or HR experience
• Lived experience in Northern Ontario is highly preferred
• Experience managing online communities and virtual engagement tools
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work independently and adapt to changing needs

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and engage registrants for the Virtual Community of Care on Circle.so
• Moderate daily online discussions to foster a welcoming community
• Develop relationships with healthcare employers and stakeholders
• Implement engagement strategies to increase participation
• Monitor engagement metrics and suggest improvements
• Provide administrative and coordination support for platform operations

Status: Contract – Full Time until March 31, 2027

Salary: $31.15 to $38.94 per hour
Hours: 35 hours per week

Position Summary

Reporting to the Academic Program Manager of the Centre for Community Health Education, the Virtual Community of Care Coordinator provides comprehensive coordination and engagement support for the Virtual Community of Care on the Circle.so platform. The role is responsible for supporting registrants, fostering meaningful engagement within the online community, and connecting healthcare professionals with resources and opportunities that contribute to employment and relocation in Northern and rural Ontario. Through community building, outreach, and coordination activities, the coordinator helps cultivate a thriving digital support network that advances program objectives.The ideal potential applicant has a strong foundation and knowledge in Health Human Resources of Northern and Rural Ontario and resides there currently.

The Northern and Rural Practice Preparation Program, delivered in partnership with Ontario Health North Regions, is funded by the Ministry of Health and addresses urgent Health Human Resources needs. It prepares experienced, practicing healthcare professionals for successful careers in remote communities through self‑paced modules, expert‑guided peer support, and funded community visits.

Responsibilities

• Communicate directly with registrants to provide timely support, respond to inquiries, and guide them in accessing the virtual community resources and opportunities.
• Support the program’s primary objective to connect registrants with relevant resources, opportunities and community supports
• Actively moderate and engage with registrants daily on the online platform to foster a welcoming, collaborative, and supportive online community
• Develop and maintain relationships with healthcare employers, partners and stakeholders to promote employment opportunities in Northern and rural communities
• Implement engagement strategies and social media‑style content to increase registrant participation, retention, and peer‑to‑peer interaction within the virtual community
• Monitor community activity and engagement metrics, identify trends, and recommend improvements to enhance the registrant experience and achieve program objectives
• Provide administrative, reporting, and coordination support to ensure the effective operation and continuous improvement of the virtual community platform

• Diploma or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Communications, Education, Health Administration or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in program coordination, community engagement, recruitment, human resources, or a related role
• Lived experience in Northern Ontario is highly preferred
• Demonstrated knowledge of recruitment, talent attraction, and workforce development strategies, preferably within the healthcare sector
• Experience managing online communities, social medial platforms, or digital engagement tools, with proven success in building and sustaining participant engagement
• Experience providing client, learner, or stakeholder support in a virtual environment
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build relationships and engage effectively with healthcare professionals, employers, and community partners
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and experience using customer relationship management (CRM)
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgement, and adapt to evolving program needs and priorities
