Responsibilities include helping to manage video lineups, shooting interviews, editing for web stories and supporting live storytelling. The role demands strong planning, communication and a passion for innovative visual storytelling.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated experience in a daily fast-paced multi-platform news environment.
• Strong visual storytelling skills across video platforms.
• Proficient editing for linear and social platforms.
• Experience packaging video content in compelling and innovative ways.
• Strong handle on social media strategy for news organizations.

Responsibilities

• Under the direction of the Senior Digital Producer, collaborate with the Video Unit Producer to elevate and produce video from the newsroom for digital platforms.
• Highlight local stories on TikTok, YouTube and CBC.ca with vertical videos.
• Understand how video treatments are consumed across platforms and adjust accordingly.
• Pitch and develop stories, research, interview, shoot, edit and package material.
• Provide guidance on workflows and best practices; vet others' work as required.
• Shoot interviews and gather visuals; decide sequence and transitions.
• Build lineups for News Wheels and support streaming and live video demands.
