Vice President, Software Engineering

Overview

The AI & Decision Product Enablement team enables industry-leading AI and decisioning products for market-facing programs with agility, resiliency, availability, and global scale. We seek a Vice President of Software Engineering to lead our Rules Decision Tooling internal product team and other products within the Decision Management Program (DMP). DMP products deliver intelligence with business agility at a global scale, powering over 40 market-facing products across the Mastercard network while processing billions of transactions daily. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, strategic, collaborative, and a strong leader.

Role

  1. Lead and scale the Rules Decision Tooling platform—crucial for real-time decisioning across Mastercard’s ecosystem.
  2. Set the technical vision and execution strategy, aligning with business and product stakeholders.
  3. Manage business execution including objectives, performance, recruiting, and coaching.
  4. Oversee delivery from roadmap to performance management, hiring, and coaching.
  5. Foster innovation and a culture of experimentation.
  6. Collaborate with product leaders and enterprise architects to align technology with business goals.
  7. Maintain engineering excellence through standards for code quality, architecture, reliability, and operational efficiency.
  8. Define and track metrics for scalability, resiliency, and productivity.

  • Excellent relationship management skills, professional presence, self-motivated, capable of working with senior leaders, executives, and external clients.
  • Proven ability to build capable organizations that deliver results.
  • Experience with complex, high-scale distributed systems, decision engines, and real-time data stream solutions.
  • Experience supporting platforms serving multiple users, including end customers and internal operations.
  • Respected technologist and leadership developer, evidenced by high-quality recruiting and mentoring.
  • Led an engineering team of at least 50 engineers in a successful tech company.
  • Ability to inspire and engage large teams for collaboration, development, and performance.
  • Track record of delivering world-class consumer software platforms.
  • Expertise with large-scale distributed systems and platforms.
  • Skilled in Agile development and continuous process optimization.
