Job description

Our client, a leading national infrastructure construction services organization, is currently recruiting for a Vice President Operations, East (Major Projects) to join their leadership team. Reporting directly to the Senior Vice President, this role will be accountable for managing and overseeing the execution and delivery of high-quality large-scale utility infrastructure projects throughout Eastern Canada and the Eastern United States.

The ideal candidate brings deep field operations and executive management experience in EPC project environments, operational integration, and strategic workforce planning. This hands-on leadership role will lead a regional team and champion delivery consistency, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.

Key Accountabilities :

  • Provide strategic direction and guidance to operational leaders and project managers ensuring effective project planning, resource allocation, and execution in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Oversee a portfolio of self-performed and EPC construction projects from initiation through close-out.
  • Lead the implementation of scalable systems, tools, and best practices across the region.
  • Ensure project phase integration across engineering, procurement, and construction.
  • Foster a culture of operational excellence, encouraging innovation, continuous improvement, and best practice sharing.
  • Establish and enforce a robust health and safety culture within the region, promoting adherence to safety protocols, policies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Effectively manage regional mobility strategies including union workforce coordination and permit planning.
  • Foster a culture of high accountability with a strong focus on EPC excellence.
  • Effectively represent the Eastern portfolio during M&A transitions, major bid pursuits, and strategic growth initiatives.

Key Experience and Qualifications :

  • At least 15 years of progressive leadership experience in managing utility and EPC project delivery experience.
  • Proven success in leading complex multi-jurisdictional EPC projects with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or related field of study.
  • Demonstrated leadership in leading large and diverse teams through changing work environments.
  • Proven experience in managing construction projects from the contractor side of EPC projects, including a strong understanding of different risk and commercial models.
  • Excellent Project Management skills, specifically with experience in delivering large-scale projects on time and on budget.
  • Strategic leader with the ability to analyze complex situations and implement appropriate strategies to mitigate risks.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% throughout the Eastern Canada / Eastern United States region.
