The Vice President, Operations will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight for multiple manufacturing facilities across Ontario, Canada. This role is responsible for driving efficiency, ensuring operational excellence, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement to enhance productivity, quality, and safety. The VP of Operations will oversee and collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and execute strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives while maintaining compliance with industry regulations and corporate standards. It requires strong leadership, operational excellence, financial acumen, and commitment to HR best practices to drive growth and efficiency.

Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to optimize production processes, cost efficiency, and output across all facilities.
  • Build and lead a high-performing management team, fostering a culture of accountability and professional development that drives performance, innovation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ensure divisions' adherence to safety, environmental, and quality standards in compliance with industry regulations and corporate policies.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to evaluate operational effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial management of operations to ensure profitability, cost control, and capital investment planning.
  • Drive workforce development, talent acquisition, and retention strategies to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Lead capital investment projects to upgrade and expand operational capabilities as needed.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, and operational excellence.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and regulatory bodies.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience with at least 5 years in a senior management role overseeing multiple departments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Manufacturing or industrial environment experience in the areas of operations, engineering, materials management, and quality control.
  • Proven experience managing operations with a strong understanding of lean manufacturing and operational excellence.
  • Strong financial acumen with experience managing P&L, budgets, financial analysis, and cost structures.
  • Experience managing P&L, CAPEX planning, and driving EBITDA improvements.
  • Demonstrated experience working in a unionized environment, including collective bargaining, contract negotiations, and labor relations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian manufacturing regulations, labor laws, and compliance requirements.
  • Experience in implementing automation, digital manufacturing, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Proven expertise in operations, engineering, materials management, and quality control.
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong HR acumen, including experience with performance management, employee relations, and workforce planning.
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
