Vice-President Fundraising - United Church Foundation GTA Toronto, Ontario

$115,000 ‒ $125,000 Annually

The United Church Foundation is seeking an exceptional and visionary Vice-President, Fundraising to lead one of the most ambitious philanthropic growth opportunities in the faith-based and charitable sectors. This is a permanent full-time position at 35 hours/week with an anticipated start date of December 1, 2026.

As our next Vice President, Fundraising, you will lead the cultivation and stewardship of approximately $12 million in annual and planned gifts while influencing and supporting an additional $15 million in fundraising activity through communities of faith, congregations, and partners.

About the Role:

Reporting to the President, the Vice President, Fundraising will be responsible for developing and executing an integrated fundraising strategy that grows philanthropic support, expands donor engagement, and strengthens fundraising capacity across the Foundation's network.

The successful candidate will be a strategic leader and accomplished frontline fundraiser who is comfortable working with major donors, professional advisors, congregational leaders, boards, and institutional stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership

• Develop and execute a comprehensive fundraising strategy aligned with organizational priorities.
• Identify opportunities to significantly expand philanthropic revenue and donor engagement.
• Provide fundraising leadership, expertise, and coaching across the Foundation and related organizations.
• Establish ambitious goals, performance metrics, and accountability systems.

Individual Giving (Annual Direct Response, Major Gifts and Planned Giving)

• Manage a portfolio of major and planned giving donors and prospects.
• Lead fundraising programs that include multi-channel solicitation and stewardship strategies with the goal of increasing giving and engagement.
• Plan for and contribute to securing approximately $12 million annually through major gifts, legacy gifts, and other philanthropic commitments.
• Build deep, trusted relationships with donors, families, and advisors.
• Lead sophisticated gift discussions involving estates, endowments, and complex charitable giving vehicles.

Network Fundraising Leadership

• Support and influence fundraising efforts that generate approximately $15 million annually through affiliated organizations, congregations, and partners.
• Develop tools, training, and strategies that strengthen fundraising effectiveness across the network.
• Foster a culture of philanthropy and donor-centered engagement.

Team and Organizational Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and inspire fundraising professionals and volunteers.
• Collaborate closely with senior leadership and the Board of Directors.
• Champion innovation and best practices in philanthropy.
• Ensure exceptional stewardship, donor experience, and ethical fundraising standards.

Qualifications: Experience

• Significant senior leadership experience of 8+ years in fundraising, philanthropy, advancement, or a related field.
• A demonstrated record of securing transformational major and planned gifts.
• Experience managing complex fundraising portfolios and achieving ambitious revenue targets.
• Success engaging volunteers, boards, senior executives, and community leaders.
• Knowledge of charitable giving vehicles, estate planning, and donor engagement strategies.
• Experience with fundraising in a religious setting and deep knowledge of the United Church of Canada.

Working Conditions

The United Church of Canada Foundation has adopted a hybrid workplace model, providing flexibility for this position, working both off-site and from the General Council Office of The United Church of Canada, temporarily located at 50 Wynford Drive in Toronto, ON.

The incumbent will be provided, for work purposes, use of secure devices and must be available by email, phone, teams or zoom during regular office hours Monday to Friday. Sitting and viewing a computer screen for long periods, keyboarding/using assistive software or devices, intermittent physical activity including sitting, standing and being on the phone for long periods of time will be required. Occasional additional hours and some travel within Canada is required.

Compensation

Salary will be based on skills and experience and be in the range of $115,000 and $125,000. Pension and group benefit plans coverage and annual vacation round out this compensation package.
