Job Description:

We are seeking a visionary, strategic, and collaborative leader to join our executive team as Vice President, Finance and Administration. This role is central to ensuring operational excellence, fiscal integrity, and innovative administrative leadership across the College. Reporting to the President, the Vice President provides senior executive oversight of Finance and Administrative Services, Information Technology Services, Campus Services, Risk Management, and Facilities Management. The Vice President ensures that strategic and operational priorities are aligned with institutional goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership: The Vice President, Finance and Administration plays a key role in the senior management team, collaborating with the President and other Vice Presidents in strategic planning and decision-making to guide the College towards its goals. This role involves advising the Board of Governors and its Audit and Risk Management Committee on corporate issues such as financial planning, budgeting, policies, and facilities management. The Vice President leads a number of departments including Facilities Management, Finance and Administrative Services, Risk Management, Information Technology Services, and Campus Services, ensuring alignment of administrative operations with the College's overarching goals and objectives.
Financial Integrity: The Vice President ensures the continued financial health and integrity of the College by developing and implementing policies and procedures to optimize funding while controlling expenditures. Under this direction, the Chief Financial Officer develops financial models, budget controls, and strategic planning frameworks to maintain fiscal responsibility. The VP is responsible for comprehensive financial reporting, providing the President and Board of Governors with accurate analyses and recommendations. The role also includes overseeing the College's endowment fund and operational cash accounts.
Facilities Management: The Vice President is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of Facilities Management policies and procedures, ensuring the efficient operation, maintenance, and renovation of the College’s physical assets. As part of the Executive Team, the VP plays a role in decision-making regarding the facilities’ administration, contributing to the College's current and future operational needs and fiscal viability.
Information Technology: The Vice President leads the development and execution of strategic plans for Information Technology, ensuring the effective deployment of IT infrastructure, services, and systems across the College. This includes guiding the Chief Digital Officer to meet both academic and administrative needs. The VP is also responsible for ensuring that emerging technologies, such as AI, are incorporated into the College’s digital strategy to foster innovation and support future learning and operational goals.
Campus Services: The Vice President leads Campus Services, providing direction on the delivery of goods and services to students, staff, and the public. By providing oversight to the Director of Campus Services, the VP ensures that these services meet both operational and financial goals, delivering quality service while ensuring financial returns to support the College’s broader strategic goals.
Risk Management: The Vice President oversees the College’s overall risk management strategy, including the development of the Corporate Risk Profile. Under this direction tothe Director of Risk Management, the VP ensures appropriate security services, internal control assessments, and occupational health and safety measures are in place, protecting the College from various operational and financial risks.
Privacy Compliance: The Vice President is responsible for ensuring compliance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation. The Chief Digital Officer is guided by the VP in the development of policies and processes that safeguard the confidentiality of College data and records.
Required Qualifications:
A master’s degree or equivalent experience in a field aligned with Finance and Administration. Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) or similar designation is required.
Minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in senior leadership and governance within a medium to large, unionized organization
Skills and Competencies:
Strong knowledge of financial management, accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
Excellent strategic planning and organizational skills.
Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems.
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
