We offer a comprehensive range of products and services across major sectors, regions, and investment disciplines, including mutual funds, ETFs, fee-based, tax-advantaged, and high-net-worth programs.

Purpose:

Reporting to the Regional Vice President, the Vice President of Business Development will generate sales, develop new business, and manage existing client relationships within the assigned territory. The role includes providing leadership and mentorship to the Inside Sales Representative (ISR) and performing follow-up activities with support from the Sales Associate (SA).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a territory to generate sales and develop new business.
  • Build long-term relationships, service existing clients, and prospect for new ones.
  • Leverage product knowledge, practice management, and interpersonal skills to increase sales and assets under management.
  • Arrange meetings with financial advisors to promote products and services (target: 20 meetings/week).
  • Assign daily tasks to the ISR and SA for follow-up.
  • Organize and host events, roadshows, and manager meetings.
  • Develop and review a strategic business plan quarterly to increase sales.
  • Segment clients to define service levels and diversify sales channels (client base: 1-250).
  • Maintain and service client relationships through territory rotations.
  • Make daily calls to clients exceeding set purchase or redemption targets.
  • Manage expenses and regional budget, including co-op requests, donations, and promotional items.
  • Use Diagnostic Selling Process and CRM to record meeting information.
  • Respond to client inquiries and follow up on leads.
  • Develop new business relationships.
  • Mentor the ISR through coaching and feedback.
  • Present new products, business strategies, and tax planning to advisors.
  • Work collaboratively to meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • Participate in special projects as needed.
  • Adhere to Scotiabank’s Global Sales Principles, considering risk culture in activities.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in commerce, finance, or business administration.
  • Progression into roles with increasing responsibility in financial services.
  • At least 5 years of sales experience.
  • At least 5 years managing a territory.
  • CSC and/or IFIC certification or enrollment in an industry designation program (CIM, CFA, CFP, etc.).
  • Strong team contributor with excellent MS Office skills and CRM experience.
  • Detail-oriented with good time management.
  • Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Ability to stay updated on industry trends.
  • Proactive, self-starter with initiative.
  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively.
