Position: Vice President, Business Development

Purpose:

Reporting directly to the Regional Vice President, the Vice-President of Business Development will work within the assigned territory to generate sales, develop new business, and service existing clients regarding Dynamic Funds' products and services. The role includes providing leadership and mentoring to the Inside Sales Representative (ISR) assigned to the territory, as well as managing follow-up activities with support from the Sales Associate (SA).

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a defined territory to generate sales and develop new business.
  • Establish and maintain long-lasting relationships with clients and prospects.
  • Utilize product knowledge, practice management, and interpersonal skills to increase sales and assets under management.
  • Arrange meetings with financial advisors to promote products and services (approximately 20 meetings per week).
  • Coordinate daily tasks for the ISR and SA for follow-up activities.
  • Organize and host events, roadshows, and manager meetings.
  • Develop and review a strategic business plan quarterly to increase sales within the territory.
  • Segment the client base to define service levels and ensure sales across various distribution channels.
  • Maintain and service client relationships through territory rotations to diversify product usage.
  • Make daily calls to clients with transactions exceeding set targets.
  • Manage expenses and maintain the regional budget, including co-op requests, charitable donations, and promotional activities.
  • Use diagnostic selling processes and CRM systems to record meeting information.
  • Respond to client inquiries and follow up on leads from the ISR.
  • Develop new business relationships and mentor the ISR through coaching and feedback.
  • Present to advisors on new products, business-building ideas, and tax strategies.
  • Work collaboratively within a team environment to meet or exceed sales objectives.
  • Participate in special projects as required.
  • Adhere to Scotiabank's Global Sales Principles, understanding risk culture and appetite.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in commerce, finance, business administration, or related field.
  • Progression into roles with increasing responsibility in financial services.
  • At least 5 years of sales experience and territory management experience.
  • Completion of CSC and/or IFIC certification preferred.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and CRM systems.
  • Industry designation enrollment (CIM, CFA, CFP, etc.) preferred.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent time management, public speaking, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to stay current on industry trends and be proactive in sales initiatives.
  • Willingness to travel extensively.
