Job summary

Novacap is seeking a Vice President to own the full investment lifecycle from sourcing to post-close value creation and to develop team members, while representing the firm to management teams, advisors and investors.

You will lead end-to-end transaction execution, build investment theses, and coordinate internal and external deal teams, with portfolio oversight and strategic firm contribution.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years in PE, IB, VC or M&A.
• Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics or engineering; MBA/CPA/CFA asset.
• Proven track record of leading complex investment processes.
• Excellent communication and executive presence.
• Fluency in French and English.

What you will do

As Vice President, you will own the full investment lifecycle, from sourcing and evaluating opportunities to executing transactions and driving post-close value creation. You will also play a key role in developing team members, leading firm initiatives and representing Novacap externally with management teams, advisors and investors.

Main responsibilities

I** nvestment execution

• Lead end-to-end transaction execution, including strategic, operational and financial due diligence.
• Build investment theses and structure deals to align with strategic objectives.
• Lead deal negotiations with management teams, shareholders and third parties.
• Present investment recommendations to the Investment Committee with confidence and clarity.
• Coordinate third-party advisors (legal, financial, industry and others) and internal deal teams.
• Raise debt and equity capital, and manage transaction documentation.
• Support deal sourcing and portfolio construction in collaboration with senior partners.

Portfolio management

• Sit on portfolio company boards and act as a trusted partner to C-level executives.
• Support strategic planning, value creation initiatives and operational performance tracking.
• Lead or support key transactions within portfolio companies, such as add-ons, refinancings and exits.
• Evaluate and manage risk, and provide guidance on the recruitment of key executives.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders across portfolio sectors.

Team leadership & mentorship

• Manage and coach junior colleagues across deal workstreams.
• Provide training, feedback and career development guidance.
• Foster a culture of collaboration, integrity and excellence across the team.

Strategic firm contribution

• Represent Novacap externally with co-investors, intermediaries and limited partners.
• Contribute to fund strategy, sourcing processes and industry mapping.
• Lead or participate in internal initiatives such as process improvements, culture-building and tooling.

• Seven to ten years of experience in private equity, investment banking, venture capital or mergers and acquisitions.
• Undergraduate degree in finance, business, economics or engineering; an MBA, CFA, CPA or CAIA designation is an asset.
• Demonstrated track record of leading complex investment processes.
• Strong investment judgment, with the ability to develop and defend investment theses.
• Experience managing cross-functional deal teams and external advisors.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including executive-level presence.
• Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written, is required given our cross-border activities and our colleagues across Canada and the United States.
