Job description

The Women's Health Coalition of Alberta (WHC-AB) is seeking a dedicated Volunteer Vice Chair to provide leadership in advancing equitable and accessible sexual, reproductive, and menstrual health in Alberta. This role collaborates closely with the Chair and Board of Directors to advocate for system improvements, engage healthcare professionals, and support policy change efforts.

As Vice Chair, you will play a key role in representing WHC-AB, shaping strategy, and ensuring community engagement to address barriers and gaps in women's healthcare. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence health policy, amplify patient voices, and drive meaningful change in Alberta’s healthcare system.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with the Vice Chair of the opposite region (Southern or Northern Alberta) to ensure alignment across the province.
  2. Serve as a spokesperson for WHC-AB in the designated region.
  3. Assist in leading board meetings, developing strategic plans, and achieving organizational goals.
  4. Support board directors in their roles and contribute to growth, advocacy, and stabilization strategies.
  5. Help establish and maintain partnerships with government, healthcare professionals, and industry stakeholders.
  6. Contribute to event planning, fundraising initiatives, and community engagement efforts.
  7. Assist with the development and alignment of new provincial chapters and communication structures with WHC National.

Qualifications & Skills:

  1. Passionate about women's health advocacy and dedicated to addressing inequities in healthcare.
  2. Experience in nonprofit leadership, governance, or advocacy is an asset.
  3. Strong public speaking, leadership, and strategic planning skills.
  4. Ability to collaborate and build relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and policymakers.
  5. Located in either Southern or Northern Alberta to ensure regional representation.
  6. Must be or become a WHC-AB member.
