Job summary

Central Victoria Animal Hospital, part of VCA Canada, is seeking a full-time Veterinary Assistant to join our surgery team in Victoria, BC. The position offers $21.00 to $24.00 per hour, with 40 hours per week on 10-hour shifts.

We are a 24-hour emergency and specialty hospital committed to high-quality care for pets and support for owners. The ideal candidate is energetic, detail-oriented, and a strong communicator who can multitask in a fast-paced team.

Qualifications

• Energetic, self-motivated, outgoing, with a keenness to learn new processes and multitask.
• Experience in a surgery or other specialty department is preferred but not required.
• A veterinary assistant certificate would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments with keen attention to asepsis.
• Aid in preparation for surgery and other procedures.
• Create a positive, low-stress atmosphere for our clients and patients.
• General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of work area, pet holding areas and common areas.
• Perform thorough cleaning of surgery suites and sterilization of surgical instruments, following hospital protocols.
• Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services and assist with various tasks.
