Job summary

Central Toronto Veterinary Referral Clinic in Toronto, ON is seeking a Small Animal Internist to join its Internal Medicine service. You’ll work alongside a team of specialists in a state-of-the-art hospital, with a schedule designed to support work-life balance and patient care.

You’ll contribute to advanced diagnostics and a busy caseload, with base compensation plus production, signing bonus, and relocation support.

Qualifications

  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree and eligibility for Ontario licensure.
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine or completion of an Internal Medicine residency.
  • Proficiency in ultrasound is highly desired.
  • Strong communication skills with an empathetic, client-centered approach.
  • Collaborative mindset and commitment to patient care.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a diverse Internal Medicine caseload with diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Perform and interpret advanced diagnostics including ultrasound, CT, endoscopy and labs.
  • Collaborate with Oncology, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology and Cardiology.
  • Build relationships with clients and referring veterinarians through clear communication.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture and grow the Internal Medicine service.

You’ll work within a state-of-the-art emergency and specialty hospital alongside experienced specialists in Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, and Cardiology. You’ll also have access to advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including a 32-slice CT scanner, video fluoroscopy, flexible and rigid HD video endoscopy, minimally invasive urology equipment, advanced ultrasound, Ho-Yag and diode lasers, and comprehensive in-house and external laboratory services. If ultrasound is an area you enjoy, you’ll have the opportunity to put those skills to work in a busy and varied caseload.

In your day-to-day, you will:
  • Manage a diverse and rewarding Internal Medicine caseload, developing comprehensive diagnostic and treatment plans for complex patients.
  • Perform and interpret advanced diagnostics, including ultrasound, endoscopy, CT, video fluoroscopy, and laboratory testing.
  • Utilize advanced minimally invasive diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including equipment for minimally invasive urology procedures.
  • Collaborate with specialists across Oncology, Surgery, Anesthesiology, Ophthalmology, and Cardiology to provide integrated patient care.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients and referring veterinarians through clear, empathetic communication and thoughtful case management.
  • Apply your ultrasound expertise to a diverse referral caseload while continuing to develop your clinical skills.
  • Contribute to a positive, collaborative hospital culture where teamwork, compassion, and enthusiasm are central to patient and client care.
  • Help strengthen and grow the Internal Medicine service as the third specialist on the team.
What You Bring
  • DVM or equivalent veterinary degree with eligibility for veterinary licensure in Ontario.
  • Board Certification in Internal Medicine or completion of an Internal Medicine residency.
  • Proficiency in ultrasound is highly desired.
