National Veterinary Associates is offering a hands-on externship for veterinary students at Clarke Animal Hospital in Alberta. Students will gain practical experience in patient care, including exam procedures, diagnostics, and surgery assistance. Externships typically last between two to eight weeks, and candidates must be in their final clinical year of veterinary school. The program offers a travel/living stipend for students. NVA also provides a comprehensive benefits package for eligible employees, including medical, dental, and 401k options.

Clarke Animal Hospital

Clarke Animal Hospital is a busy 4 DVM practice that keeps things interesting each day. We perform surgery four days a week and our DVMs love to use diagnostics and dig into our sick patient visits. Our location makes us extra special for activities outside of work; we are just minutes away from the shore of Lake Michigan and all of the outdoor activities that people love to enjoy!

Students will work closely with the supervising veterinarian to gain experience in gathering patient histories, performing physical exams, creating treatment plans, diagnostics, dentistry services, observing/assisting or performing surgical procedures, and medical management of patients. In addition to practicing their clinical skills, student externs will have the opportunity to practice their communication skills with the medical team, support staff, and clients.

Most externship experiences range from two to eight weeks depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships at Clarke Animal Hospital are offered only to students in their final clinical year of veterinary school.

Veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education are eligible for a travel/living expense stipend.
