North End Animal Hospital in Halifax, NS is growing and seeks a friendly Vet Assistant, Receptionist to join our team. You will welcome clients and pets and support the hospital staff with appointments, billing, and basic care tasks.

The ideal candidate has excellent customer service, some veterinary office experience or willingness to learn, good phone/email handling, and a team-focused attitude in a modern clinic setting.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service skills.
• A real aptitude for putting people at ease and creating a welcoming environment.
• Ability to answer a multiline phone system, track and book, and follow up with appointments effectively.
• Respond to and manage email correspondence; clients, referring veterinarians & internal office messages.
• Admitting and discharging pet patients; scheduling appointments.
• Invoicing/billing; creating estimates, obtaining pet owner confirmation and processing payments.
• General housekeeping duties; cleanliness of reception area, pet holding areas and common areas.
• Willingness to learn more regarding veterinary services, updated medical office procedures, and assisting the Veterinary staff with various tasks and treatments.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and pets in a welcoming manner and assist with check-in/check-out.
• Answer multiline phone system, book and follow up on appointments.
• Manage email inquiries and internal messages from clients and veterinarians.
• Admit and discharge patients; schedule visits and procedures.
• Handle invoicing and collect payments; prepare estimates.
• Maintain cleanliness of the reception and pet holding areas.
