Job summary

CVS Controls Ltd. is seeking an Instrumentation/Valve Assembly Technician to join our manufacturing team in Alberta. The role involves assembling valves and related instrumentation, calibrating and testing units, and ensuring high-quality production standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude with proficiency using hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID drawings.
  • Forklift and Fall Arrest certifications (training provided).
  • Able to lift up to 50 lbs. and maintain attention to detail.
  • Strong time management, decision-making and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble valves, actuators, or pneumatic/hydraulic ESD units per work orders and specifications.
  • Calibrate, test, and verify performance of completed units to standards.
  • Install and test valve accessories, including mounting and tubing connections.
  • Disassemble units, troubleshoot issues, and repair or replace components as needed.
  • Perform preparation tasks such as cleaning and washing parts and maintain housekeeping.

Overview

The Instrumentation or Valve Assembly Technician is responsible for the assembly, calibration, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of valves and/or valve-related instrumentation products. This role ensures equipment is manufactured to precise specifications and contributes to the overall quality and efficiency of production operations.

Responsibilities
  • Assembling valves, actuators, or pneumatic/hydraulic ESD units in accordance to work orders and specifications.
  • Calibrating, testing, and verifying performance of completed units to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Installing and testing valve accessories, including mounting and tubing connections.
  • Disassembling units, troubleshoot issues, and repair or replace components as required.
  • Performing assembly preparation tasks such as cleaning and washing parts.
  • Performing painting and touch-up work requiring respirator use.
  • Using Kinetic ERP for job completion.
  • Completing all required documentation, work orders and inspection records accurately.
  • Housekeeping and general shop labour.
  • Assume other duties as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment is an asset.
  • Mechanical aptitude and proficient with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID.
  • Forklift and Fall Arrest certification (training is provided).
  • Able to lift to 50 lbs. without assistance.
  • Attention to detail and organized.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective time management and decision-making.
  • Ability to work independently and in a deadline-focused environment.
  • Good communication, interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to respond and adapt to changing priorities.
Drug and Alcohol Testing

Fitness-to-Work Testing

A pre-employment fitness evaluation will be required for positions involving physical tasks.

All testing procedures will be conducted by a third party in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, test results will be shared internally on a need to know basis only.

Work Schedule

Full-time and permanent position. Monday to Friday, from 8am to 5pm. Overtime may be required.
