Job summary

Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a reliable Utility Worker to maintain cleanliness and safety throughout the hospital. You will clean, mop, dust, and perform floor care, shampoo carpets, manage waste, and assist with spills, laundry, room setups, and window care as needed.

This is a long-assignment, part-time role requiring 30 hours bi-weekly. Shifts run 7:30am–3:30pm with one in two weekends included.

Qualifications

• Grade 12/GED or equivalent is required.
• Cleaning and floor care experience is preferred.
• Competencies in other languages, French is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Clean, mop, and dust all areas of the hospital.
• Perform floor care including scrubbing and waxing.
• Shampoo carpets and chairs; manage waste removal.
• Clean spills and handle chemical spills as required.
• Assist with laundry tasks and room set-ups.
• Interior window cleaning, winter salt application, isolation room cleaning.
• Participate in flood and bloodspill clean ups when needed.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Assistant Manager, the Utility Worker maintains the cleanliness of the hospital. Activities include cleaning, mopping and dusting all areas in the hospital. Other work would include floor care (scrubbing and waxing floors), shampooing of carpets and chairs, waste removal (hazardous waste and regular waste), chemical spill cleanup, laundry tasks, room set-ups, window cleaning (interior), some salt application during winter months, isolation room cleaning, flood and bloodspill clean ups.

About You

• Grade 12/GED or equivalent work experience required.
• Preference will be given to applicants with cleaning and floor care experience.
• Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

$20.74 - $21.56 Hourly
