Job summary

Lac La Biche County is seeking a full-time Utility Operator to maintain water, sewer, and related systems. The role includes daily checks, preventive maintenance, responding to alarms, and on-call rotation in the Lakeland Region.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum one year of related utility experience.
  • AWWOA Level I WD/WT/WWC/WWT preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Journeyman trade and related utility tickets are assets.
  • Natural Gas Utility Operator Level 1 asset.
  • Basic computer skills including SCADA, Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s Licence required.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts daily equipment checks to ensure proper operation within the utility system.
  • Performs procedure and preventative maintenance tasks as required.
  • Respond to public and operational alarm calls to troubleshoot issues and take corrective actions.
  • Operate and maintain the treatment, distribution and collection systems as per provincial and federal legislation.
  • Perform daily laboratory samplings and analysis.
  • Participates in “on-call” rotation as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum one year of related utility experience (water, sewer, natural gas and storm)
  • AWWOA Level I certification in WD, WT, WWC & WWT is preferred
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Related Journeyman Trade would be an asset.
  • Related utility tickets would be an asset (Line Locating, PE Fusion, RMO).
  • Natural Gas Utility Operator level 1 would be considered an asset.
  • Basic computer skills, SCADA, MS Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Class 5 Driver’s License is required.

The successful candidate will require a satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Drivers’ Abstract (documents must be dated within a 6-month period).

Position details

  • Full-time permanent position, 2080 hours annually,40 hour work week, shift work. )with evening and weekend obligations as required.
