Overview

The Bluestem Utilities team has an opportunity for an Utility Operator 2. Operates water analysis and treatment equipment to ensure water treatment, distribution, and/or wastewater treatment is performed as per regulatory, environmental and safety standards. Location and Schedule

This position is located in Kamloops, British Columbia. Some travel required, including visits to working plants and construction sites. Hours of work may include weekends and on-call

What You'll Do

• Controls flow and processing of water/wastewater, residuals, and finished water/effluent, operating valves and gates either manually or by remote control
• Monitors gauges, meters and control panels and observes variations in operating conditions
• Collects samples and performs routine laboratory tests and analyses, interpreting test results to determine processing requirements
• Ensures plant records are accurate and up to date
• Starts and stops pumps, engines and generators to control and adjust flow and treatment processes
• Performs daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly sampling of all aspects of the wastewater utility systems to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Operates, inspects and services equipment in water and wastewater, including hydraulics, pumps, valves etc
• Performs related security, safety and administrative procedures involving chemical hazards, personal protective equipment, general health and safety procedures, and emergency preparedness
• Maintains emergency preparedness binders and field operating manuals
• Undertakes routine repairs to water distribution and wastewater treatment and collection systems
• Maintains shift logs, recoding meter and gauge readings
• Performs other related duties as required

Will accept applicants without utility operator certifications who possess trades or technical certifications.
