Job summary

CEDA is hiring two Utility Operators, Class 2 for Pressure & Vacuum at the Sarnia, ON location. The role involves operating and maintaining high-volume storage tanks, vacuum trucks, and high-pressure water equipment, with responsibilities including safety at heights and adherence to union guidelines after 1040 hours.

Candidates should have a valid Class G license with minimal demerits and the ability to travel Ontario.

Qualifications

  • Experience or comfort with confined spaces and industrial environments.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding work and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Familiarity with respiratory equipment and PPE is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with operation and maintenance of high-volume storage tanks, pumps, vacuum trucks and high-pressure water equipment.
  • Work safely at heights and in labor-intensive conditions.
  • Climb into vessels/tanks with cleaning equipment and rigging tasks.
  • Complete required paperwork for inspections and safety documents.
  • Support crew with daily tasks and adapt to changing work scopes.

Job Description

CEDA is currently seeking 2 Utility Operators, Class 2 for Pressure & Vacuum at our Sarnia, ON location! CEDA's Sarnia location is a union shop and as such, candidates applying to this position should know enrollment in the International Union of Operating Engineers local 793 will be required after working 1040 hours.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the operation and maintenance of high-volume storage tanks, pumps, vacuum trucks, high pressure water equipment and various specialty tools
  • Work safely at heights up to 100 meters in a labor intensive capacity
  • Climb safely into small vessels and tanks with industrial cleaning equipment – our experienced crew has your back
  • Ensure safety for all team members and property
  • Work as part of a team and follow direction from supervision
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Complete minor maintenance and checks on equipment
  • Learn new skills every day by rigging in and out specialty equipment
  • Complete required paperwork for unit pre-trip, inspections, job reports and safety documents
  • Challenge your eye for detail, practice what we preach. Take your time, get the job done right the first time and safely every time
  • Other duties as assigned

Role Specifications

  • Valid ClassG driver’s license with no more than 5 demerits in the last two years
  • 1+ years experience in an industrial environment is an asset but not required
  • Able to provide a negative result on a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Ability to travel throughout Ontario (flexibility in scheduling is required)

  • You are safety focused when it comes to people and equipment
  • Experience and comfort with confined spaces
  • Perform physically demanding work including climbing multiple flights of stairs and carrying equipment (able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis)
  • Comfortable with the use of additional respiratory equipment and air supply; wearing a full face mask and carrying your own source of oxygen
  • You’re happiest working in a team, sharing a laugh with your coworkers and getting the job done safely
