Job summary

CEDA is seeking 3-5 highly experienced, self-motivated Hydrovac Driver/Operators to operate and maintain hydrovac equipment for mining projects across Northern Ontario, including Sudbury, Chapleau and Timmins.

This full-time and temporary role offers $30 - $37 per hour, with benefits and pension starting on hire and eligibility for overtime. Shift work may be required, with typical 7-7 rotations, and a strong emphasis on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

  • Valid class AZ or DZ licence with no more than 5 demerits in the last two years.
  • 2-3+ years of directly related work experience operating hydrovacs is required.
  • Must pass CEDA's Driver Assessment in a manual transmission.

Responsibilities

  • Operate hydrovac and high-pressure water equipment and various tools.
  • Perform minor maintenance and equipment checks.
  • Drive manual transmissions.
  • Spend 90% of the day outside the truck.
  • Provide guidance to Labourers as required.
  • Ensure safety for all team members and property.
  • Work as part of a team and follow supervision.
  • Work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Complete required paperwork (pre-trip, inspections, job reports, safety docs).
  • Observe and enforce safety requirements; take pride in doing the job right.

CEDA is currently seeking 3-5 highly experienced, self-motivated, responsible Hydrovac Driver/Operators to operate and maintain a variety of hydrovac equipment and various specialty tools. Locations for these positions will be required for various mining operations within multiple areas in Northern Ontario including Sudbury, Chapleau and Timmins.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Operate proficiently hydrovac equipment, high pressure water equipment and various specialty tools
  • Complete minor maintenance and checks on hydrovac equipment
  • Proficient in driving manual transmissions
  • 90% of your day is outside of the truck, boots on the ground!
  • Provide guidance to Labourers as required
  • Ensure safety for all team members and property
  • Work as part of a team and follow direction from supervision
  • Work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
  • Complete required paperwork for unit pre-trip, inspections, job reports and safety documents
  • Strictly observe and enforce all company and client safety requirementsChallenge your eye for detail, practice what we preach. Take your time, get the job done right the first time and safely every time
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Valid class AZ or DZ licence with no more than 5 demerits in the last two years
  • 2-3+ years of directly related work experience operating hydrovacs is required
  • Must pass a CEDA's Driver Assessment in a manual transmission (10, 13 and 18 speed)
  • Able to provide a negative result on a pre-employment drug and alcohol test
  • Able to travel throughout Ontario (flexibility in scheduling is required)

  • You are safety focused when it comes to people and equipment
  • Experience and comfort with confined spaces
  • Perform physically demanding work including climbing multiple flights of stairs and carrying equipment (able to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis)
  • Comfortable with the use of additional respiratory equipment and air supply; wearing a full face mask and carrying your own source of oxygen
  • You're happiest working in a team, sharing a laugh with your coworkers and getting the job done safely
