Job summary

Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited (P&H) invites applications for a Utility Operator in the Milling division based in Hamilton, Ontario. The role involves daily sanitation, wheat receiving, quality testing, and supporting mill operations on a continental shift schedule.

You will work 12-hour days and nights, with overtime as required. Prior food production or manufacturing experience is an asset; strong communication and mechanical aptitude are valuable traits for success in this position.

Qualifications

• Shipping/Receiving experience an asset.

• Competent communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

• Perform daily cleaning as required by the Master Cleaning Schedule and maintain mill exterior cleanliness.
• Receive wheat and perform quality tests; record daily wheat receiving information into ERP system.
• Complete wheat receiving reports, weigh scale tickets and inspection sheets.
• Report food safety, product quality and food security incidents to QA; ensure HACCP, GMP and company policies are followed.
• Maintain Inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals; assist with pest management and site safety.

Your Team

P&H Milling: P&H Milling is Canada’s largest Canadian-owned milling company, producing high-quality flour and cereal products for bakeries, food manufacturers, and consumers. From coast to coast, we transform Canadian wheat into trusted products that feed families at home and abroad.

We are seeking a Utility Operator to join our Milling team. This role is responsible or executing daily and weekly sanitation tasks around the facility, receiving wheat and performing quality tests as well as assisting with daily operations of the mill as needed.

Day to Day

We operate on a rotating continental shift schedule ( 2 weeks on the day shift / 2 weeks on the night shift). Shifts typically include:

• Days: 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM
• Nights: 6:00 PM – 6:00 AM
• Perform daily cleaning as required by the Master Cleaning Schedule,
• Maintain cleanliness of mill exterior, including the shorts loading area,
• Maintain Inventory of cleaning supplies and chemicals,
• Assist with the management and monitoring of the Integrated Pest Management
• Inspect and perform required testing of all wheat to ensure specifications are met,
• Complete all wheat receiving reports, weigh scale tickets and inspection sheets,
• Record daily wheat receiving information into ERP system,
• Report any food safety, product quality and/or food security incidents to the QA Department,
• Ensure HACCP, GMP and Company policies and procedures are followed,
• Ensure that all injuries, hazards and near misses are reported.
