Job summary

CNUC of Canada is seeking a Utility Forestry Technician to support vegetation management alongside a safety‑driven team. The role focuses on identifying and inspecting trees and brush along power line corridors, reporting findings, and coordinating access with landowners and stakeholders.

Year‑round, full‑time work with travel as needed. Qualifications include diplomas in resource management/forestry or a BSc in Forestry, plus field experience, a valid Class 5 license, and the ability to pass a

Qualifications

  • Integrated Resource Management diploma, Forestry Resource Technology diploma, and/or BSc in Forestry.
  • One or more years of Utility Vegetation Management field experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License with fewer than 6 demerits.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Clear communication with landowners and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Identify, inspect, and report trees and brush near power line corridors.
  • Consult with landowners and stakeholders for access and consent.
  • Perform QA/QC audits and ensure client requirements are met.
  • Discuss access issues with stakeholders and property owners.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards at the work site.
  • Support on-the-job safety practices and carry tools/equipment.
  • Maintain service trucks and equipment in an orderly state.
  • Report equipment repairs and uphold company values.

The Position: Utility Forestry Technician

Type: Full-time

Reports To: Regional Supervisor

Pay rate of $250- $300 per day, paid hourly.

We provide ALL equipment needed except your CSA Certified Work Boots.

  • Working shifts of 4 days on and 3 days off.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Identification, inspection, and reporting of trees and brush along power line corridors.
  • Consultation and consenting with landowners and/or stakeholders.
  • Complete quality assurance and quality control auditing, inspections, and compliance based on client requirements.
  • Discuss and negotiate access issues with stakeholders/property owners.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Help enforce on-the-job safety practices.
  • Carry and utilize materials, tools, and equipment at the work site.
  • Service trucks and equipment. Keep trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat and orderly fashion. Report the need for equipment and truck repairs to the supervisor.
  • Uphold CNUC core values and maintain a positive work environment.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Experience and Knowledge Expectations:
  • Integrated Resource Management diploma, Forestry Resource Technology diploma, and/or BSc in Forestry and/or one or more years of Utility Vegetation Management (UVM) field-related experience.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License and Drivers Abstract with less than 6 demerits.
  • Candidate must pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Identification, inspection, and reporting of trees and brush along power line corridors.
  • Safeguard employees and the public from hazards in and around the work area.
  • Must have organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly with various stakeholders, including home/ land owners, contractors, and other team members, to ensure proper service delivery and clear reports.
