Job summary

Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited in Windsor, ON is seeking a Utility Arborist Apprentice to gain hands-on exposure in all arborist duties. The role involves field support for Arborists and a pathway toward becoming a Certified Arborist.

This full-time, year-round position offers on-site work, a wage of CAD 20–25 per hour based on qualifications, and a robust benefits package including RRSP/TFSA, stock purchase after 6 months, and an employee referral program.

Qualifications

• Valid provincial driver’s license required; 5-ton vehicle license and air brake endorsement considered an asset.
• Experience in arboriculture/horticulture preferred.
• Utility line clearing experience an asset.
• Willingness to progress toward becoming a certified Arborist.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to work safely in a team and learn quickly.

Responsibilities

• Control lowering ropes.
• Supply tools for tree workers aloft.
• Control road and sidewalk traffic as needed by use of warning devices.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance inspections on equipment.
• Cut, chip and load brush and wood.
• Complete proper job site cleanup.
• Assist other crew members in performing job duties.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Position Overview

As a Utility Arborist Apprentice with Davey Tree you will begin to gain exposure on all aspects of the Arborist role. You will spend your day in the field supporting Arborists all while ensuring a clean, safe, and organized site. In time Davey Tree would look to support the apprentice in becoming a Certified Arborist.

Job Duties

• Control lowering ropes.
• Supply tools for tree workers aloft.

• Cut, chip and load brush and wood.
• Complete proper job site cleanup.
