Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Co. of Canada, Limited is seeking an Utility Arborist Apprentice in Windsor, ON. You will begin by supporting Arborists in the field and ensuring a clean, safe, and organized site, with a path toward becoming a Certified Arborist.

Full-time, on-site position with ongoing training, excellent benefits, RRSP/TFSA, and stock purchase options after six months of service. Must be 18+ and ready to grow in a safety-conscious team.

Qualifications

• Valid provincial driver’s license required.5-ton license asset.
• Willingness to work toward becoming a Certified Arborist.
• Able to lift and carry 50 lbs; able to work as part of a team.
• Previous arboriculture/horticulture experience.
• Utility line clearing experience an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assist arborists in field operations and maintain a clean, safe job site.
• Support equipment setup and daily maintenance inspections.
• Assist with lifting, loading, and transporting brush and wood.
• Help manage road and sidewalk traffic around work zones.
• Follow safety policies and procedures at all times.
• Participate in training to advance toward Certified Arborist.

Position Overview

As a Utility Arborist Apprentice with Davey Tree you will begin to gain exposure on all aspects of the Arborist role. You will spend your day in the field supporting Arborists all while ensuring a clean, safe, and organized site. In time Davey Tree would look to support the apprentice in becoming a Certified Arborist.

Job Duties

• Control lowering ropes.
• Supply tools for tree workers aloft.
• Control road and sidewalk traffic as needed by use of warning devices.
• Perform daily, weekly and monthly maintenance inspections on equipment.
• Cut, chip and load brush and wood.
• Complete proper job site cleanup.
• Assist other crew members in performing job duties.
• Abide by Davey and industry safety policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Valid provincial driver’s license. Licensed to drive a 5-ton vehicle and air brake endorsement considered an asset.
• Previous arboriculture/horticulture experience.
• Utility line clearing experience an asset.
• Willingness to work towards becoming a certified Arborist.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Ability to work safely as part of a team and possess the willingness to learn and progress.

Additional Information

• Full time. Year-round employment.
• $20-$25/hour. Wage will be determined based on education, experience, and relevant qualifications or certifications.
