Job summary

Green Infrastructure Partners Inc. in Toronto is seeking a Field Engineer to lead the integration of design and field operations for SEM/SOE projects in dense urban environments.

You will coordinate excavation sequences, monitor geotechnical systems, supervise temporary works, and ensure safety and quality on site with potential night/weekend shifts. Strong collaboration with design, survey, and subcontractors is essential.

Qualifications

• B.Eng./B.Sc. in Engineering or related discipline.
• 5-8 years in heavy civil/underground construction with exposure to shoring, deep excavation, SEM.
• P.Eng. (or eligible) preferred; EIT considered with strong field record.
• Permanent Resident or Canadian citizen.
• Training: Working at Heights, Confined Space, WHMIS, First Aid; rail/transit safety certs.
• Valid driver’s license; ability to travel across project sites.
• Site-based role with shift work (nights/weekends) as required.
• Physically able to work in tunnel environments.

Responsibilities

• Plan and sequence SEM rounds (drift headings, face support, shotcrete cycles).
• Coordinate SOE systems (soldier piles/lagging, walls, sheet piles, tiebacks).
• Oversee excavation activities, temporary works, utilities protections, and traffic staging.
• Monitor geotechnical instrumentation and interpret trends.
• Support dewatering plans and groundwater management per permits.
