Job summary

City of Richmond Hill is seeking an Urban Forestry Inspector to support the health, safety, and growth of the municipal urban forest. You will respond to tree concerns, inspect health and risks, and support pruning, planting, and maintenance programs.

You will oversee contractors, manage service contracts, and ensure quality standards. The role includes updating the tree inventory, resident inquiries, and participating in the Urban Forest Working Group.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Diploma in Arboriculture or Urban Forestry or related discipline.
  • Tree Risk Assessment Qualification.
  • Commercial Land Exterminator License with Industrial.
  • Forestry and Landscape Designation.
  • Line Clearing Safety Awareness Certification.
  • 5-7 years operational tree care experience.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect City-owned trees for health, hazards, pests, and storm damage.
  • Conduct inspections under pruning programs and prioritize needs.
  • Record findings in GIS/Maximo; generate work orders and update inventories.
  • Coordinate and oversee contracted planting, pruning, and removals.
  • Monitor budgets, prepare reports, and track KPIs.
