Job summary

A leading IT services company is seeking a Unix Systems Administrator based in Toronto, Ontario. This role involves ensuring the stability and efficient operation of IT infrastructure while providing hands-on administration of Unix servers. The ideal candidate will have 5 years of experience in a high availability production environment and extensive knowledge in various technologies including WebLogic and Solaris, complemented by an ITIL Foundations Certificate.

Job description

The Unix Systems Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the stability, integrity and efficient operation of IT infrastructure by providing hands‑on pro‑active Unix server administration.

• 5 years hands‑on experience in an high availability production enterprise networked environment.
• Experience with WebLogic, Solaris and Sun Hardware.
• Solid in-depth understanding of DNS, WINS and TCP/IP.
• Demonstrated experience installing, maintaining, operating, tuning and troubleshooting complex operating systems and applications.
• Extensive experience with Windows server implementation and maintenance including experience with systems planning, security management and general best practices.
• Working technical knowledge of Scripting languages such as Perl, SNMP, Shell Scripting; Knowledge of data privacy practices and laws.
• ITIL Foundations Certificate.
• Familiarity Cisco PIX Firewalls, VPN, switches and routers.
• Familiarity with Windows Server Operating Systems including interoperability solutions.
• Familiarity with SAN storage solutions.
