Position Summary
The Unit Clerk performs clerical, receptionist and communication functions on the unit as part of the nursing team. The incumbent exercises initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, methods and actions on unusual matters. The position operates in a manner consistent with the mission, vision and values and policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud.
Responsibilities
- Perform clerical, receptionist and communication functions on the unit as part of the nursing team.
- Determine work priorities and methods with appropriate initiative and independent judgment; respond to unusual matters as needed.
Qualifications
- Minimum one (1) year experience in a related clinical area.
- Education: Grade 12 Education or equivalent; Unit Clerk Certificate; other suitable combinations of Education and Experience may be considered.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) is essential.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications and Email.
- Demonstrated written and oral communication skills; ability to prioritize in a changing environment; strong organizational skills.
- Ability to build and maintain respectful and positive working relationships with all facility staff.
- Respect for and promotion of a culturally diverse population; ability to uphold confidentiality across all formats.
- Good work and attendance record.
Physical and Other Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- May require occasional evening and weekend work as necessary.
- Immunization as a condition of employment per SH-SS Sud policy.
- Completion of satisfactory Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, Adult Abuse Registry Check and Child Abuse Registry Check; candidate covers any service charges as applicable.
- Three work-related references from non-relatives with direct knowledge of your work performance.
