Support the Property Underwriting team, deliver timely and accurate business-processing, administrative, technical, and marketing support to the underwriting process for Insurance & Specialty Underwriters and Client Managers. Duties and responsibilities directly impact productivity, process efficiency, timeliness, profitability, and accuracy of the underwriting process.

  • High interaction and coordination with Underwriting and other functional areas including, but not limited to Products, Accounting, Finance and Claims
  • Regular interaction with internal and external customers
  • Reviewing, updating, and maintaining account information, data, records, and other documentation as needed, disseminating, or explaining information, taking direction, giving instructions, and addressing customer complaints and queries
  • Conducting preliminary deal analysis; preparing applicable account data for review by Underwriters
  • Reading, organizing, and working with detailed source documents from external customer information
  • Assisting the Underwriters with drafting and preparing contractual documents and invoices and composing business correspondence as needed
  • Supporting Underwriters in organizing and preparing data for client/broker meetings
  • Actively participating on special projects, as assigned
  • There may be an opportunity for cross-training/exposure to other lines

About the team

This role is a part of a team of Underwriting Associates and Analysts, reporting into an Operations Lead, Canada. It requires high interaction and coordination with underwriting, near-shore/off-shore, other functional areas including, but not limited to Products, Finance, Claims, Compliance and Policy Processing.

About You

  • Knowledge and understanding of commercial insurance principles and practices are a plus. Entry level will be considered
  • Excellent computer skills - Microsoft Office Suite with emphasis on Microsoft Excel, Outlook
  • Proven knowledge of arithmetic and algebra, administrative and clerical procedures including handling files and records, general economic and accounting principles, and principles and processes for providing customer service. This includes meeting established time and quality standards ensuring customer satisfaction
  • Proven ability working in globally located team situations, understanding, and demonstrating sensitivity toward cultural differences
  • Demonstrated success working collaboratively in a matrix environment
  • Ability to establish priorities and to plan, coordinates, and monitor personal work plan maintaining status and oversight of multiple submissions
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build and maintain effective working relations in a multi-cultural environment
  • Excellent listening, reading, written, and verbal communication skills
  • French language skills would be an asset
  • Strong customer focus and service orientation
  • Adaptability to changes in tasks and priorities
  • Associates Degree or equivalent is a plus

The base salary hiring range for thisexisting position is CAD $60,000 - $80,000. The specific base salary offered for this or any given role will take into account a number of factors including but not limited to job location, scope of role, qualifications, complexity/specialization/scarcity of talent, experience, education, and employer budget. At Swiss Re, we take a "total compensation approach" when making compensation decisions. This means that we consider all components of compensation in their totality (such as base pay, short-and long-term incentives, and benefits offered), in setting individual compensation.
