Job summary

Sovereign Insurance in Calgary, Canada, is seeking an energetic Underwriting Assistant to support our UA team. This temporary full‑time role offers a hybrid work model (2 days in office) and provides exposure to commercial insurance practices.

You will enter new business, endorsements and renewals, assist underwriters, train junior staff, and coordinate with brokers. Minimum 2–3 years insurance experience, high school diploma; CIP courses are an asset. Salary around $43,550–$72,583 CAD annually.

We are looking for an energetic, experienced Underwriting Assistant to join our UA team. The successful candidate will provide support to our underwriters through collaboration and performing a variety of administrative duties associated with the underwriting function.

How you will create impact:

• Completing the entry of new business, endorsements and renewals into the system and issuing policies.
• Training and mentoring less experienced staff, as well as assisting team lead or manager with workflow and creation of a team-oriented approach to meeting Regional and Corporate goals.
• Ordering risk inspections for underwriters, as requested.
• Preparing and maintaining basic file set up documents subject to the underwriter’s approval.
• Obtaining additional information from Brokers as required by the Underwriter.

Expected salary/hourly range $43,550- $72,583

The salary amount for the successful candidate is determined by Sovereign in its discretion and will vary depending on several criteria including but not limited to: local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualification, experience and education.

Employees may also have the opportunity to participate in incentive programs and earn additional compensation tied to individual and/or business performance, or other business metrics.
