Job summary

Northbridge Insurance is seeking an experienced Underwriter for Transportation & Logistics to tailor risk solutions for clients, working closely with Risk Services and Claims to form a holistic view for underwriting decisions.

You will build trusted relationships with brokers and clients, manage renewal rates, assess new business profitability, monitor trends, and collaborate across teams in a flexible hybrid model that includes remote work and in-office days.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of Underwriting experience with a Transportation & Logistics focus.
• Completed, or pursuing CIP designation (an asset).
• Strong customer service background.
• Experience connecting with clients in a virtual world.
• Team-first mentality.

Responsibilities

• Customize Transportation & Logistics risk solutions for clients with input from Risk Services and Claims.
• Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure timely communications with brokers.
• Support broker meetings and handle emails and calls to keep clients informed.
• Analyze risk profitability and renewal performance; monitor trends and identify loss ratio concerns.
• Collaborate across teams to ensure accurate, holistic risk assessments.

What it’s like to be a Northbridge Underwriter, Transportation & Logistic

Our Underwriters customize solutions for our clients when they need advice on Transportation & Logistics risks. They work closely with our Risk Services and Claims departments to get a holistic picture of each risk and make Underwriting decisions that make sense for all parties. They are passionate about maintaining strong relationships with our internal and external stakeholders and love utilizing their strong technical skills to ensure that risks are assessed properly.

They are experts in their field and passionate about servicing our brokers – this means emails and phone calls don’t go unanswered, and broker meetings are regularly penned into their calendars.

• Underwriting Transportation & Logistics risks
• Executing renewal rates and exposure, retention, and rate adequacy guidelines
• Analyzing new business for risk profitability
• Monitoring trends and developments, identifying areas of concern regarding loss ratio
• Building relationships
