WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

As the Underwriter, Financial Lines and Pro, you will play a critical role in our Financial Lines underwriting team. You will be responsible for evaluating and underwriting complex risks within the financial sector, including Directors and Officers (D&O) liability, Professional Liability (E&O), Cyber Liability, and Employment Practices Liability (EPL). Your strategic insight, underwriting expertise, and leadership skills will drive profitable growth and ensure the delivery of exceptional service to our clients.

WHAT WILL YOU DO:

  • Source, underwrite, price, and negotiate Financial Lines accounts (D&O, EPL, Fiduciary, etc.) in alignment with our strategy and risk appetite to achieve profitability, retention, and premium targets.
  • Analyze and evaluate risks using discretion and independent judgment to deliver optimal underwriting outcomes.
  • Negotiate and draft policy and endorsement wordings as needed.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with brokers and policyholders.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends by actively participating in market discussions, conferences, and roundtables.
  • Promote Relm’s value proposition and product offerings to brokers and clients.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to drive cross-selling opportunities and contribute to shared objectives.
  • Enhance underwriting processes through efficiency improvements, leveraging data and technology.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and external underwriting guidelines and legal requirements.
  • Support special projects and take on additional responsibilities as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO THE TABLE:

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in Financial Lines underwriting and/or broking (D&O experience is required).
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, insurance, law, actuarial science, computer science, or a related field.
  • Strong expertise in policy and endorsement negotiation, preparation, and drafting.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • A creative problem solver with strong critical thinking abilities and a unique approach to challenges.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative, and team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with confidence in client and broker interactions.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Willingness to travel internationally and work outside core hours when required.
