Job summary

TK Mining and Construction Limited is seeking Underground Miners for our Smithers, BC project site. You will operate mining equipment, perform drilling and blasting, install ground support, and assist with shaft sinking and underground infrastructure construction on-site.

You will follow work packages and drawings, monitor ground conditions, and manage ventilation and water control while maintaining strict safety standards and reporting procedures.

Qualifications

• Underground mining experience including drilling, blasting, mucking.
• Proficiency with underground equipment like jumbos, bolters, scoops, loaders.
• Strong safety mindset with knowledge of underground safety standards.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, work packages and shift instructions.
• Physical ability to work in demanding underground conditions.
• Effective teamwork and communication in a diverse crew.
• Asset: shaft sinking, complex underground construction, or infrastructure installations.
• Relevant trade certification or mining diploma, with valid tickets such as First Aid, WHMIS, and fall protection preferred.

Role Description Underground Miners at TK Mining and Construction Limited play a key role in delivering safe and efficient underground development and construction at the Smithers, BC project site. This full-time, on-site position involves operating mining equipment, performing drilling and blasting activities, installing ground support, and assisting with shaft sinking, lateral development, and underground infrastructure construction. Daily tasks include following work packages and engineering drawings, monitoring ground conditions, managing ventilation and water control in working areas, and adhering to strict safety procedures and regulatory requirements. The role also includes conducting equipment inspections, performing basic maintenance, completing shift reports, and collaborating with supervisors, engineers, and other crew members to meet production targets and schedule milestones. Underground Miners are expected to contribute to continuous improvement efforts and support a culture of safety, teamwork, and respect on site.

Qualifications

• Underground mining experience, including drilling, blasting, mucking, and ground support installation, with familiarity in mine development and construction environments.
• Proficiency in operating underground equipment such as jumbos, bolters, scoops, loaders, and utility vehicles, and ability to perform basic equipment inspections and maintenance.
• Strong safety mindset with knowledge of underground safety standards, hazard recognition, ventilation, water management, and emergency response procedures.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, work packages, and shift instructions, and to follow structured schedules and production plans.
• Physical ability to work in demanding underground conditions, including working at heights or in confined spaces, and to perform manual labor for extended periods.
• Effective teamwork and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate respectfully with supervisors, engineers, and peers in a diverse workforce.
• Prior experience in shaft sinking, complex underground construction, or infrastructure and electrical installations is an asset.
• Relevant trade certification, mining diploma, or recognized industry training, along with valid tickets such as Standard First Aid, WHMIS, and fall protection, is preferred.
