Job summary

Hudbay Minerals Inc. is seeking an Underground Mine Supervisor at the Lalor Mine, Snow Lake, MB. This 7/7 role offers a camp-based schedule with transportation support and relocation housing options. Responsibilities include supervising crews, ensuring safety, and aligning production with weekly plans.

The incumbent will read mine plans, train staff, optimize equipment use, and ensure regulatory and company standards are met in a long-life operation producing Zn, Au, Cu and Ag.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and direct activities of crew members and improve team performance.

• Read and interpret mine plans and schedules to optimize production input.
• Plan targets, schedule resources, and assign work to meet mining sequence goals.
• Discipline when necessary per the CBA for unionized employees.
• Comply with regulatory and Hudbay Environmental standards.

The Opportunity:
We are seeking an Underground Mine Supervisor at our Lalor Mine. This position will be a 7/7 opportunity. Lalor Mine is a high-grade, producing underground mine located near Snow Lake, MB. It is a major, long-life operation primarily producing Zinc, Gold, Copper and Silver with ore processed at the nearby Stall and New Britannia Mills.

Schedule:

• 11.5 hour shifts on a 7/7 schedule rotating dayshift/nightshift. Please note this is not a FIFO opportunity - employees are responsible for their own transportation to and from Snow Lake. To support you, we offer a fully equipped camp and mileage allowance.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise and direct activities of crew members and continuously improve the team’s work performance through effective use of establisted systems and processes in order to achieve assigned objectives.
• Ensure the:
  • Safety of all personnel
  • Production quality consistent with the established standards for the mine
  • Cost-efficient management of consumables and supplies
  • Shift production that is aligned with weekly schedule
  • People training, coaching and skills development in role
  • Optimize utilization of mobile equipment
• Discipline when necessary in accordance with the CBA for employees who are unionized
• Be in compliance of regulatory and Hudbay Environmental standards
• Read and interpret mine plans, mining sequences, construction prints and mine engineering schedules so that input can provided to optimize production.
• Plan, establish targets/standards, schedule resources, and assign work in such a way that team members can make effective use of materials, equipment, and tools to achieve a pre-defined mining sequence in the Superintendent’s area.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues to recommend corrective actions based on monitoring the conditions that could adversely affect, under or exceed, the scheduled development and production targets.

Professional Experience / Qualifications:

• Previous underground supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized environment.
• Strong commitment to safety.
• Values delegating work to team members in order to achieve the required production targets.
• Ability to foster a climate of safety and continuous improvement.
• Written and verbal communication skills.

Compensation:

• Base earnings
  • Annual wage $109,501 - $121,667 depending on experience
  • Safety and Production bonues
  • Shift Premiums:
    • Weekend Premium: +$1.00/hr
    • NIght Shift Premium: +$0.63/hr
• Profit Sharing
• 100% Employer funded health benefits pacakage starting day 1 of employment
