Thyssen Mining is looking for an experienced Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic / Maintenance Supervisor to oversee maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of underground equipment. This role blends hands-on mechanical work with leadership to ensure safety, reliability, and maximum uptime while coordinating maintenance programs and supporting the operations team across North America.

• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting abilities.

Thyssen Mining is seeking an experienced Underground Heavy Duty Mechanic / Maintenance Supervisor to oversee and perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of underground mobile and fixed equipment. This position combines hands-on mechanical expertise with leadership responsibilities to ensure equipment safety, reliability, and availability.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate daily underground maintenance activities.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain underground mobile and fixed equipment.
• Lead and support preventative and scheduled maintenance programs.
• Respond to equipment breakdowns and complex mechanical issues.
• Coordinate mechanics, equipment, parts, and resources based on operational priorities.
• Monitor equipment availability, utilization, downtime, and recurring maintenance issues.
• Ensure timely availability of parts and materials required for repairs.
• Provide leadership, coaching, and technical support to maintenance personnel.
• Inspect completed work to ensure quality, safety, and manufacturer standards.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and equipment documentation.
• Work closely with Operations, Planning, and other departments to minimize downtime.
• Ensure all work complies with Thyssen Mining and site-specific safety requirements.

Qualifications

• Heavy Duty Mechanic trade certification or equivalent required.
• Extensive experience maintaining and repairing underground mining equipment.
• Previous supervisory or crew-lead experience preferred.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and diagnostic troubleshooting abilities.
• Experience with preventative maintenance programs and maintenance planning.
• Experience using diagnostic tools and maintenance software.
• Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver's license.
• Applicable underground certifications and site training.
