Job summary

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking an Underground Electrician for the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Work will follow a FIFO 14-on/14-off rotation, reporting to the Electrical Superintendent.

You will provide electrical support for underground and surface equipment, adhere to BC Electrical Code, and maintain safety and environmental standards while coordinating with the team.

Qualifications

• Minimum High School Diploma or equivalency.
• 3-5 years of underground electrician experience.
• Red Seal Journeyman Electrician certification preferred; 4th year apprentices considered.
• Sandvik development drill maintenance experience.
• Knowledge of Occupational Health & Safety Act and BC Electrical Code.
• Understanding of PLC control systems is an asset.
• Experience with high voltage power distribution: 13.8kV, 600V MCCs and VFDs is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret drawings, blueprints, schematics and electrical code specifications to determine layout of industrial electrical equipment installations.
• Install, replace or repair electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, lighting fixtures and other electrical components.
• Major involvement in the installation and maintenance of the underground HV supply, dewatering, ventilation and services systems.
• Test electrical and electronic equipment and components for continuity, current, voltage and resistance.
• Maintain, repair, test and install electrical motors, generators, and control systems.
• Document reports detailing work performed, problems diagnosed, pre & post checks and shift paperwork.
