Job summary

Kidco Construction Ltd. is seeking an Underground Estimator to support bids for water, sanitary, and storm infrastructure projects in Calgary and surrounding areas.

You will analyze plans, take-offs, and supplier pricing to craft accurate cost estimates, collaborate with division and operations managers, and help transition successful bids to operations. Ideal for candidates with 0–5 years in civil construction estimating and a civil engineering background.

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 0–5 years of experience in civil construction estimating.
• Strong reading of civil drawings and profiles.
• Proficiency in Excel; experience with estimating software is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze project plans, specifications, and geotechnical reports.
• Prepare detailed quantity take-offs.
• Attend Pre-Tender Meetings.
• Solicit and review subcontractor and supplier pricing.
• Develop accurate cost estimates for review.
• Prepare project handover to operations team.
• Maintain unit rate and cost databases.
• Foster relationships with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients.
• Analyze and review performance of projects and bids.
