Job description

Our customer, a major oil and gas producer, is seeking a Turnaround Planner - E&I for a 1.5-year contract with potential extension. This camp-based position is located in Ft. McMurray, with flights provided from Edmonton or Calgary. The role involves a 4/3 schedule, with 10-hour shifts. The primary responsibility is to prepare E&I scope work packages, ensuring they meet client standards.

Responsibilities:
Strategy/Early Planning Phase:
  • Develop Job Plans for assigned scope according to the Job Plan Development Process.
  • Use the Planning Norms database for preliminary hour estimates during early budget stages.
Planning Phase:
  • Prepare work packages.
  • Conduct job walkdowns to ensure completeness and satisfaction, including all support craft requirements.
  • Collaborate with various teams to review scopes for constructability.
  • Participate in CWP reviews to ensure scope accuracy.
  • Develop detailed task estimates, including duration and crew size.
  • Review and secure approval for estimates before P6 development.
  • Create BOMs to identify necessary materials.
  • Coordinate with material and supply chain teams for timely procurement.
  • Identify specialty tools and equipment needs.
  • Support technical discussions with OEMs and vendors.
Execution Phase:
  • Support Scope Change Requests during execution.
  • Assist execution teams as needed.
  • Ensure timely issuance of SCR work packages.
Post Phase:
  • Contribute to lessons learned sessions.
  • Update work packages with new information post-execution.
Minimum Requirements:
  • At least 8 years of Electrical & Instrumentation Planning experience, with 4+ years in Turnaround Planning.
  • Turnaround/shutdown experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or refinery sectors.
  • Proficiency with Maximo or similar CMMS, SPR, Excel, and MS Office.
  • Interprovincial Red Seal certification in Electrical and/or Instrumentation; dual tickets preferred. Technical diploma or degree is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Ability to interpret P&IDs, schematics, datasheets, and drawings.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities during critical phases.
  • Willingness to work extended shifts, including day/night rotations.
  • Prepared to take over and complete partially finished work packages.
