Job summary

GHD's Rail and Transit group located in the Greater Toronto Area is seeking a Tunnel Inspector to perform inspection duties on underground tunneling projects. You will work within a safety-focused team, conducting daily inspections and documenting findings in project records, while collaborating with the Construction Manager and contractors.

This hybrid role requires at least five years of QA/QC tunneling experience, a recognized designation such as OACETT RCSI or PEO EIT is a plus, and a valid

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of QA/QC inspection experience in TBM tunneling with segmental lining.
• OACETT RCSI designation or PEO EIT designation considered an asset.
• Strong organizational, administrative, and problem-solving skills.
• Effective interpersonal and written communication skills.
• Valid G-class driver's license with vehicle access.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day tunnel inspection per client terms.
• Complete daily project records/diaries.
• Monitor contractor work for contract specifications and safety/environmental compliance.
• Take action when non-conformances are observed.
• Make recommendations / propose solutions for emerging project issues.
• Work nights, weekends, extended shifts; overtime as necessary.
• Other duties as may be assigned.

Who are we looking for?

Our Rail and Transit group located in our Greater Toronto Area Offices is looking for a Tunnel Inspector to perform inspection duties underground tunnelling projects.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Working safely in conformance with GHD’s Behaviour-Based Safety culture and in conformance with all safety requirements of the railway
• Completing day-to-day inspections of tunnel construction including in accordance with client terms of reference and manuals
• Daily completion of project records / diary entries
• Monitoring contractor work for compliance with contract specifications
• Monitoring contractor work for compliance with applicable safety and environmental legislation
• Taking action, in consultation with Construction Manager and in accordance with contract requirements, when non-conformances are observed
• Making recommendations / proposing solutions for emerging project issues
• Working nights, weekends, extended shifts
• Working overtime hours as necessary
• Other duties as may be assigned

What you will bring to the team:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA/QC inspection of TBM tunneling with precast concrete segmental lining
• OACETT rcsi designation, or PEO EIT designation considered an asset
• Sound judgment and decisiveness; strong organizational, administrative, observational and problem-solving skills;
• Effective interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
• Team player, cooperative with other staff with open sharing of information and knowledge
• MTO Class ‘G’ driver’s license in good standing and access to a vehicle

• The salary range for this position is $ 75900 to $126500 . The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres.
