Job summary

GHD in the Greater Toronto Area is seeking a Tunnel Inspector to perform underground tunneling inspections on TBM projects. The role focuses on QA/QC, safety, and compliance with client specifications.

You will maintain project records, monitor contractor work, and coordinate with the Construction Manager. A strong background in segmental lining and a valid driver's license are required, with hybrid schedule three days in-office.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA/QC inspection of TBM tunneling with precast concrete segmental lining.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• MTO Class 'G' driver's license in good standing and access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Perform day-to-day inspections of tunnel construction in accordance with client terms of reference and manuals.
• Monitor contractor work for compliance with contract specifications and safety/environmental legislation.
• Maintain project records/diary entries and document non-conformances with guidance from Construction Manager.
• Make recommendations/solutions for emerging project issues and participate in safety culture.

Our Rail and Transit group located in our Greater Toronto Area Offices is looking for a Tunnel Inspector to perform inspection duties underground tunnelling projects.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Working safely in conformance with GHD's Behaviour-Based Safety culture and in conformance with all safety requirements of the railway
• Completing day-to-day inspections of tunnel construction including in accordance with client terms of reference and manuals
• Daily completion of project records / diary entries
• Monitoring contractor work for compliance with contract specifications
• Monitoring contractor work for compliance with applicable safety and environmental legislation
• Taking action, in consultation with Construction Manager and in accordance with contract requirements, when non-conformances are observed
• Making recommendations / proposing solutions for emerging project issues
• Working nights, weekends, extended shifts
• Working overtime hours as necessary
• Other duties as may be assigned

What you will bring to the team:

• Minimum of 5 years of experience in QA/QC inspection of TBM tunneling with precast concrete segmental lining
• OACETT rcsi designation, or PEO EIT designation considered an asset
• Sound judgment and decisiveness; strong organizational, administrative, observational and problem-solving skills;
• Effective interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills
• Team player, cooperative with other staff with open sharing of information and knowledge
• MTO Class 'G' driver's license in good standing and access to a vehicle

• The salary range for this position is $ 75900 to $126500 . The posted salary range represents the expected hiring range for GHD locations in its major city centres. Ranges may vary for positions in other locations. At GHD, base salary is determined by your skills, experience, qualifications and work location.
