Job summary

GHD is seeking a Graduate Quality Assurance Inspector - Transportation to join our Construction Phase Services team across Ontario, with potential offices in Toronto, Markham, Waterloo, Whitby, St. Catherines, or Mississauga.

The role supports field tasks, data collection, and adherence to GHD procedures to build foundational experience. The position is based in a hybrid work model, combining in-office collaboration with field assignments, and involves varying hours including nights and weekends

Qualifications

• Education: Civil Engineering Technician/Technologist diploma or Civil Engineering degree.
• Experience: 0–2 years in related field; construction field work is a plus; valid Ontario G driver’s licence.
• Teamwork: cooperative with other staff; open sharing of information and knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Health and safety: work safely and follow GHD’s safety culture.
• Perform day-to-day inspections of highway/road/bridge and sewer/watermain projects per client terms.
• Assist Senior Inspectors with payments to Contract Administrator and client staff.
• Maintain project records/diaries daily.
• Monitor contractor work for contract compliance.
• Notify supervisor of non-conformances observed.
• Work nights, weekends, extended shifts; seasonal hours may vary.
• Other duties as assigned.

Who are we looking for?

GHD is seeking a Graduate Quality Assurance Inspector - Transportation to join our Construction Phase Services team and support the delivery of engineering consulting services for major transportation infrastructure projects across Ontario. This position can be based in our Toronto, Markham, Waterloo, Whitby, St. Catherines, or Mississauga office.

A new grad that carries out defined field tasks and assists with data collection for construction delivery. Supports effective workflows by following instructions, documenting observations, and maintaining accuracy. Applies GHD procedures and basic digital tools to support consistent field practices. Builds foundational experience and prepares for more complex field assignments.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

• Working safely and observing / working in conformance with GHD’s Behaviour-Based Safety culture;
• Completing day-to-day inspections of Highway / Road / Bridge and Sewer / Watermain projects in accordance with client terms of reference and manuals;
• Working with Senior Inspectors and other team members to make payment recommendations to Contract Administrator and client staff;
• Daily completion of project records / diary entries;
• Monitoring contractor work for compliance with contract specifications;
• Notifying supervisor of non-conformances observed;
• Working nights, weekends, extended shifts;
• Working overtime hours as necessary. Work is seasonal in nature and will likely involve greater hours of work in summer than in winter months;
• Other duties as may be assigned.

What You Will Bring To The Team

Education

• Pending completion of Civil Engineering Technician or Technologist diploma, or completion of Civil Engineering degree.

Experience

• General Experience: 0-2 years of experience in related field.
• Past experience in construction field work is considered an asset;
• Valid Ontario Class “G” driver’s licence; and
• Team player, cooperative with other staff with open sharing of information and knowledge.

Salary:

Waterloo: $28,00 hourly - Salary Range is based on the preferred work location. If the selected candidate´s location differs, changes to the salary range may apply.
