Job summary

EWI Recruitment is seeking an experienced Tunnel Engineer to support underground infrastructure projects from design through construction and completion. You will work with multidisciplinary teams, site personnel, contractors and specialists to ensure tunnelling works are planned, coordinated and delivered to required standards.

You should bring a civil/geotechnical engineering degree, tunnelling experience, and a solid grasp of excavation methods, temporary works and lining systems.

Qualifications

• Degree in civil/structural/geotechnical engineering or related discipline with tunnelling experience.
• Experience in tunnelling, underground construction or major infrastructure projects.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical standards.
• Professional registration or progress toward accreditation welcomed.

Responsibilities

• Develop and review tunnel designs, construction methodologies, temporary works and related documents.
• Provide engineering support during construction, resolving technical queries and design changes.
• Monitor tunnelling activities, ground conditions, and lining works.
• Review contractor submissions, method statements, inspections and quality records.
• Assist with risk assessments, constructability reviews and HSE management.
• Coordinate with geotechnical, structural, civil, rail, mechanical and electrical disciplines.
• Contribute to programme updates, progress reporting, cost control and issue close-out.
• Support site investigations, surveys and interpretation of monitoring data.
