Job Title

Truck Driver – Long Distance

Job Summary

Operate a truck over long distances to transport and deliver goods between designated locations, including loading and unloading cargo, preparing receipts, verifying orders, collecting payments, inspecting the vehicle, and performing minor repairs.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and drive a commercial vehicle weighing over 4600 kg with three or more axles.
  • Oversee all aspects of vehicle condition, cargo loading/unloading, and safety/security.
  • Perform pre‑trip and post‑trip inspections of vehicle systems (tires, lights, brakes) as required by legislation.
  • Record cargo information, distance traveled, fuel consumption, etc. in a logbook or on‑board computer.
  • Communicate with dispatcher and other drivers using on‑board computer and hands‑free cell phone.
Academic & Educational Requirements
  • Secondary school diploma or equivalent.
  • Provincial certification required.
  • Valid AZ Driver’s License.
  • Successful completion of a TTSAO‑approved Driver’s Course or equivalent.
Required Skills & Experience
  • Minimum 1 year of verifiable experience with articulated equipment.
  • 21 years of age or older.
  • Valid class AZ driver’s license not suspended/revoked in past 36 months.
  • Proficient in English (reading, speaking, understanding highway signs, official inquiries, reports).
  • Admissible to the United States and able to obtain a FAST card.
  • Meet USDOT medical requirements.
  • Recent criminal record search or valid FAST card.
  • Original driver’s abstract no older than one month, no more than 3 demerit points.
  • Original CVOR abstract no older than one month.
  • Negative drug screen.
  • Capable of meeting physical demands.
  • Successfully complete a road test by an LTI‑appointed evaluator.
  • No preventable accidents in last three years where claim exceeds $3000.
