Job summary

SUNRISE FREIGHT SYSTEMS INC is seeking an on-site Truck Driver with AZ class license to operate flatbed and tractor-trailer equipment across various locations in Ontario. You will plan routes, handle cargo documentation, perform inspections, and coordinate with dispatch to ensure safe and timely deliveries.

The role requires 2–3 years of driving experience, strong problem-solving skills, and the ability to work at multiple sites with physical demands and safety considerations.

Qualifications

• AZ class license required.
• 2–3 years of driving experience.

Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes to minimize fuel consumption using GPS and other navigation devices.
• Address customers' complaints or concerns.
• Obtain permits for international cargo transport.
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods.
• Inspect vehicle and maintain equipment condition (tires, lights, brakes, storage).
• Perform brake adjustments and emergency roadside repairs.
• Conduct pre-trip, en-route and post-trip inspections and oversee vehicle operations.
• Relay information to central dispatch.
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance traveled and fuel consumption.
• Tarp cargo and ensure safety and security of cargo.

Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Address customers' complaints or concerns
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform emergency roadside repairs
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
