Job summary

Sobeys Inc. is hiring a Truck Driver to deliver customer orders and pick up merchandise, operating company vehicles safely and efficiently. The role supports Sobeys’ distribution network serving over 1,600 stores with a 4‑day, 10‑hour shift pattern (Friday to Monday, 4pm–2am).

Qualifications

• Two to three years' experience driving tractor-trailer and/or straight truck.
• Class 1 Driver's License
• High School graduate
• Physical ability for lifting up to 50 lbs (two-person lift)
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods

Responsibilities

• Pre-inspect truck and maintain vehicle condition.
• Complete manifests and logbooks; maintain proper documentation.
• Load, secure and unload merchandise safely; ensure correct case-counts.
• Drive tractor-trailer or straight truck safely and efficiently.
• Maintain good relations with customers and follow driver SOP.

The Truck Driver will deliver customer orders or pick up merchandise by operating the company vehicles in a safe and expeditious manner. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment.

Shift available: Friday to Monday; 4pm to 2am (4‑day schedule at 10 hours per day); Schedule includes 3 days off per week

Where you’ll be focusing:

• Pre-inspect truck
• Complete manifest/ logbook
• Ensure that the proper documentation is maintained
• Maintain equipment and report any damages, necessary repairs, or malfunctions
• Drive transport truck or straight truck in a safe and respectful manner
• Ensure merchandise loaded in vehicle is stowed in a safe and damage-free manner
• Unload trailer at stores
• Ensure case-count delivered corresponds with order, pick up credit, or damaged product
• Always maintain good working relations with customers through cooperative attitude and well-groomed appearance
• Exercise good driving manners and taking precautionary measures during inclement weather conditions
• Follow the instructions outlined in the driver SOP and pay attention to detail
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements
• Responsible for all other duties assigned by manager

• Class 1 Driver's License

• Two-person lift required for weights exceeding 50 lbs
• Ability to stand and walk for long periods of time
