Job summary

English required; az license and air brakes endorsement preferred; 1–2 years experience and a high school diploma required. Responsibilities include route planning with GPS, loading/unloading, vehicle inspections, logging hours and fuel consumption, and ensuring cargo

Qualifications

• Secondary school graduation certificate is required.
• Experience: 1 year to less than 2 years.
• English language proficiency required.

Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes based on conditions using GPS to minimize fuel consumption.
• Load and unload goods.
• Obtain special permits and documents for international routes.
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials.
• Inspect vehicle condition including tires, lights and brakes.
• Perform brake adjustments and pre-trip/post-trip inspections.
• Relay information to central dispatch and record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption.
• Tarp and secure cargo.

Responsibilities

• Plan or adjust routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) equipment, or other navigation devices, to minimize fuel consumption and carbon emissions
• Load and unload goods
• Obtain special permits and other documents required to transport cargo on international routes
• Operate and drive straight or articulated trucks to transport goods and materials
• Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, cold storage and other equipment
• Perform brake adjustments
• Perform pre-trip, en route and post-trip inspection and oversee all aspects of vehicle
• Receive and relay information to central dispatch
• Record cargo information, hours of service, distance travelled and fuel consumption
• Tarping and ensuring safety and security of cargo
