Job description

Job Title: Treasurer / Financial Officer

ARK - Accessibility Renovations for Kids is seeking an experienced professional to lead our financial management efforts. This role involves overseeing all financial operations, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, and supporting organizational growth. Success in this position means maintaining accurate financial records, adhering to budgets, and providing timely reports to the Board. This role is pivotal in ensuring the financial health and transparency of our organization.

Responsibilities:
  1. Team Coordination:
  • Lead the finance team to ensure efficient completion of tasks.
  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial accounting and reporting.
  • Oversee tracking and processing of donation receipts for cash and in-kind contributions.
  • Maintain comprehensive financial, statistical, and accounting records.
  • Monitor adherence to the annual budget and ensure expenses stay within limits.
  • Manage the preparation of the annual budget for board approval.
  • Provide regular financial updates to the Board.
  • Operational Oversight:
    • Act as a signing officer for cheques and financial documents.
    • Oversee financial transactions, including banking and recording of funds.
    • Disburse funds as directed by the Board.
    • Ensure timely completion of financial reports, tax filings, nonprofit returns, and audits.
    • Attend monthly meetings (virtual or in person).
    • Monitor the organization's email account and respond promptly to requests.
    Qualifications:
    • Proven experience in corporate accounting or a related field.
    • Strong understanding of budgeting and financial analysis techniques.
    • Familiarity with cash management strategies and QuickBooks Online.
    • Proficiency in general ledger reconciliation and financial reporting.
    • Knowledge of GAAP principles and their application.
    • Excellent analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
    • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
    • Self-motivated and able to work collaboratively within a team.
