Job description

JOB FUNCTION:

As a Traveling Refrigeration Technician, you will play a pivotal role in piping, maintaining, and repairing refrigeration systems across the Fareway Meat & Grocery network of stores.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Install piping and condensing units
• Start up, test, and observe systems to ensure proper functioning throughout their operating life
• Service and maintain existing refrigeration systems
• Follow refrigeration piping best practices and stay updated on industry standards
• Troubleshoot refrigeration systems with various needs
• Replace faulty refrigeration parts
• Answer store questions regarding refrigeration systems
• Perform advanced refrigeration maintenance and repair at stores with minimal supervision
• Supervise and coordinate the work of contractors

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience working with refrigeration systems
• Ability to read blueprints and technical instructions
• Proficiency with tools without supervision
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Experience in diagnosing, maintaining, and repairing advanced refrigeration systems
• Electrical and mechanical skills are a plus
• Availability for overnight travel

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

• Ability to climb stairs, bend, kneel, twist, reach, and pull frequently
• Lift items over 50 lbs. occasionally, 25 lbs. frequently, and 10-20 lbs. continuously

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

• Exposure to varying temperatures:
• • Room temperature (60F - 85F)
  • Refrigerated rooms (28F - 45F)
  • Freezer rooms (-20F - 0F)
• Work in noisy, busy warehouse environments requiring alertness

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

• Work 47 hours/week
• No ammonia exposure
• Travel 2-3 days/week
• Paid mileage and per diem ($50/night, $115 hotel)
• Wage starting at $24/hr, up to $47/hr
• Pre-employment screening and background check required

Based out of our Distribution Center Complex in Boone, IA.
